Customising my project
As you may have noticed we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of 2 grandchildren this year. So my focus has been on some different activities. I have been having great fun doing some knitting which I haven’t done for years. When I finished these 2 little jackets I went looking for commercial buttons to complete them and could not find anything I liked. So I decided to make some matching buttons. It also gave me a chance to try out a new app I have downloaded ColorMixr. With it you can pick colors from the photos you love or from your camera. This app instantly retrieves the closest match from a library of over 2,200 color formulas. I did have to make some slight adjustments to the darker blue adding ecru instead of white to reduce the brightness and a little extra black to make the red a little darker. Overall though it was a great way of easily making the colours I needed. The designer of the app Nancy Ulrich responded quickly to a question I had and the tutorial help is really great. It is available for a free trial followed by a very reasonable subscription. When I think of the ridiculous amount of time I have spent trying to get a perfect colour match for a project I think it is a great investment. I have several books and tutorials on colour but frankly if there are people out there who are willing to do it for me I would much rather be spending my time making my creations.
